I’m a beginner and new to exercising, how will FitSync help me?

FitSync has many workouts for beginners with exercise videos in our libraries that you can choose from.  Your FitSync calendar lets you plan your workout schedule and each day’s workout is automatically downloaded to your handheld device when you sync.  Logging your workouts will help you track your progress so you’ll be able to see the results that you’ve achieved.  FitSync will help you keep track of your increasing strength, improving cardio response, vital stats and body measurements.  You can also participate in our online Global Rankings and see how you compare with others.  The FitSync Forums are a good source of tips and advice from other users.

I’m an experienced athlete and exerciser, how will FitSync benefit me?

FitSync gives you complete flexibility in designing your routines and helps you track and monitor your progress.  We provide you with workouts from our libraries and motivate you with our online Global Rankings where you can compare and compete with others.  Some experienced athletes reach a plateau in their training but with FitSync’s analytical tools and reports, you can refine your program continuously, keep track of injuries in your journal, monitor your vital stats and body measurements online and reach your goals.  Remember, with FitSync, if you can do it, FitSync can track it.

I have a personal trainer, how will FitSync help me?

You and your personal trainer can track your progress together, even when you’re traveling or training on your own.  Your personal trainer can prepare new workouts for you that you can download to your handheld even when you’re not training together.  Your personal trainer will be able to monitor your total fitness program, including activities that you perform on your own or outside the gym.  You can both stay in touch easily via the FitSync messaging system.  No matter where you are, your trainer can use FitSync to provide guidance and motivation.

Can I create my own workouts?

Yes, you can create your own exercises, workouts or programs (collection of workouts).  FitSync gives you the flexibility to choose from our vast library of exercises with videos to create your own workout or you can create one from scratch.  Create your own exercise and upload your video if you like.  Your trainer can also design workouts for you that you access directly on your handheld or personal FitSync Web account.  You can also easily edit workouts to quickly create a new one.

Is there a calendar for me to schedule my workouts?

Yes, you can schedule your own fitness program and your workouts for each day will be automatically downloaded to your handheld device when you sync.

What does FitSync cost?

FitSync offers a monthly or annual subscription.  If you’re a member of a club with the FitSync system, your FitSync membership may already be included in your membership. To view subscription rates, log in to your FitSync Web account, and click on My Account.

My club offers a free FitSync Web account.  How do I sign up?

Your username and password will be sent to the email you have on file. For Malaysia only: your membership # is your username, your birthdate (dd/mm/yyyy) is your password. You can change your username and password once you've logged in by clicking on My Account on the left side of the page.

How can I use FitSync on my handheld?

You can upgrade your FitSync Web account to add the software for your handheld device so you can download workouts to your device.  Log in at the Web site with your username and password, then click on My Account and then Upgrade Account to get FitSync on your handheld.

What’s the difference between a FitSync Web account and FitSync Member account?

With a FitSync Web account you can track your progress on the Internet.  A FitSync Member account lets you download your workouts to your hand phone or PDA and conveniently log your exercises on your handheld.  It’s like having your personal trainer in your pocket!

I received a free FitSync Member account as a personal training client.
How do I extend my FitSync membership when my free one expires?

Log in at the Web site with your username and password.  Click on My Account and Renew Account to continue your membership with the handheld access.

How do I communicate with my trainer via FitSync?

The FitSync Message Center allows you to communicate with your trainer when you are both using FitSync.  Messages will appear in your FitSync Web page and on your PDA.  Your trainer can also post comments in your journal, update your targets and goals, and add new workouts for you to try.

When I travel, can I use FitSync in another club?

You can use FitSync wherever you are.  All you need is Internet access.  If you do not have Internet access, you can wait until you regain Internet access to sync your handheld device.  If you are unsure about Internet access at the facility you will be visiting, make sure you sync your handheld before you travel.  That way you will have your scheduled workouts with you.

If I change my club, can I keep using my FitSync account?

If your FitSync account is part of your membership, you can keep using your FitSync account at any club in the same chain.  Check with your club’s management.

What do I need to run FitSync?

You’ll need a PC with access to the Internet so you can access your FitSync Web page.  If you want to download and track workouts on your handheld device you’ll need a device that can connect to the Internet so you can download your workouts.  FitSync works on devices powered by iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile (Professional and Classic), Palm OS 4.0 or later, or Java J2ME WAP 2.0 phone with GPRS data service.  Trainers need an iPhone, iPod Touch, Android, or Windows Mobile device to download and log client workouts.  If you do not have a handheld device, you can still use FitSync on a PC with Internet access.

Do I need to install anything on my PC?

No, you only need Internet access via IE 6 or later, or Mozilla/Firefox on your PC to use FitSync.  To use our handheld component, you would need to install our software on your handheld device.

All you need is an Internet connection with IE 6 or later on a Mac to use FitSync.

How do the workouts get to my handheld?

Every time you sync your PDA or mobile phone, your workouts are automatically downloaded and your latest workout data is automatically transferred to your personal FitSync Web pages.  You don’t need to be connected to the Internet to log your workouts on your handheld but you will need a connection to sync your device with your FitSync Web page.

Are there differences between the Windows Mobile®, Palm® and Java™ versions of FitSync?

The Palm and Java versions for individuals allow users to download their scheduled workouts, track their results and upload their data to their personal Internet pages.  The Windows Mobile version for individuals has some additional functions such as creating and editing workouts.  The Windows Mobile 2003 version for professionals allows management of multiple clients and verification of PT sessions.

Why is it important to log my workouts?

Fitness experts all agree that if you want to reach your goals you need to (1) make a plan and (2) track your progress.  Reaching your goals is a lot easier and more fun when you can see how you’re doing.  Whether you want to get fit, lose weight, build muscle or sculpt your body, you get the most out of your workouts when you log your results and monitor your progress.  Whether you’re working with a personal trainer or on your own, an activity log will show you your results and you’ll see how far you’ve come toward reaching your goal.

Your FitSync activity log will let you:

  • Set goals and automatically show you your achievement with our graphs and charts
  • Review what exercises worked and what didn’t
  • Monitor your vital stats and body measurements along with your activities
  • Compare your results with others

Can I use somebody else’s handheld device to use FitSync?

You can use any PDA or mobile phone that has the FitSync handheld software installed to log in with your username and password.

Can I share my workouts with others?

Yes, you can submit your workouts to FitSync’s Library so your friends can try them as well.  Your friends can search for workouts by type, name of the workout or the name of the Author.
